Airbrush VS Traditional Makeup
Many brides ask what the difference is between airbrush makeup application and traditional makeup application. Let me explain the difference between the two so you have a better idea of which would be best for your wedding day.
The key distinction between airbrush makeup and traditional makeup is the way the product is applied.
Airbrush makeup is a fine mist of controlled air that sprays foundation through a small gun attached to an air compressor. The foundation consistency is thinner than your traditional foundation allowing for a soft mist and steady stream of air to create an even product finish over the top of the skin. The light-weight foundation sprays onto the face for flawless coverage. The coverage of the airbrush is easily adjustable and controlled by the trigger on the gun and the air pressure setting.
Airbrush Advantages:
seamless coverage
flawless natural finish
light-weight
Airbrush Disadvantage:
the product doesn't work well with sunburn, excess hair, or dry skin.
the fine mist will adhere to any fine hairs or dry skin patches, making them more pronounced.
touch ups may break down the coverage
Traditional makeup is applied by hand tools such as a brush or beauty blender. It can be worked into the skin for an even finish. The coverage of traditional makeup can range from a natural dewy glow to a matte-heavy/full coverage based on the formula.
When applied properly, both methods should be able to withstand the test of time. Both can offer light or heavy coverage. Our team has done many brides with traditional techniques, and many brides with airbrushing techniques. We can’t say one outweighs the other by a long shot – there are pluses and minuses to both. Our team of professionals is here to help assess your skin conditions to determine which application would be ideal for you. Not only is skin moisture taken into account, but skin texture, facial hair and even the weather all help our artists choose the best approach for you.
